This is the second of our 2 free online workshops for the NRAS community: “Starting a Business while Coping with Rheumatoid Arthritis” run by our Group Leader,  Mick Green.

Session 2: 24^th February, 6pm 10 top tips for starting a business.

Mick, who lives with RA himself, has been running his own successful HR consultancy business, Endorse HR, for over 14 years as well as using his professional knowledge to help businesses start, grow or take a new direction. This is a fabulous opportunity for anyone living with RA who is considering starting their own business, to take part in two online interactive sessions.

Starting a Business while Coping with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)

“Starting a business is tough enough without the added complication of RA. Picking the right sort of business is essential and then understanding that start-up success or failure is all about knowing both the how and the why of the actions you’re taking.

These virtual workshops will give you some ideas about the sort of business that is feasible to start and continue to run while also living with the fluctuations of inflammatory arthritis, along with signposting to on-going support. Followed in the second session by ten top tips for starting a business.

There is no way I could have continued in my professional HR role in the corporate world after I contracted RA. Running my own business for the last 14 years has allowed me to be in control of my schedule, rest when I need to (usually 2 sleeps a day now), work mostly virtually and deal with my painful flairs when they inevitably come.

If you are struggling to remain in your current role because of your RA, starting your own business may be a good option allowing it to  work well alongside the challenges of the condition and providing an income. Spoiler, its not for everyone though, can be hard work with long hours, but you will be in charge of those hours!

It will be run over two 1-hour sessions and we would recommend you attend both as they focus on different aspects:

Session 2:

Will focus on 10 essential things [10 top tips] you need to know about running a successful business. You can use this as a checklist to make sure you’re thinking and your business plan are on the right track.  Or consider; do I need to get more information, strategic education or clarity for the overall vision, the market, or your product/service.”
