Rate of Pay: £10,268 p/a (FTE £24,000)
Hours:Part-time (15 hours/across 3 days p/wk)
Location:NRAS, Beechwood Suite 3, Grove Park Industrial Estate, White Waltham, Maidenhead, Berkshire, SL6 3LW, with remote/hybrid working to include a minimum of 40% contracted hours in office.
Reporting to: Volunteer & Peer Support Service Manager

The Peer Support Service Assistant plays a vital role in fostering connection and community across both local and digital peer support groups. Working closely with the Volunteer & Peer Support Service Coordinator, they serve as a primary point of contact for Group Leaders, offering hands-on support with scheduling and group promotion. A significant part of this role involves administrative tasks, including scheduling meetings, maintaining records, and assisting with the promotion of events. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail are essential, alongside a passion for building relationships and empowering volunteers.

Please note: Candidates applying for this role are not required to have pre-existing knowledge of RA or JIA to be eligible for this role. Full training will be provided during induction.

Main Job Roles

NRAS Volunteer Led Group Meetings

  • Foster strong relationships with group leaders to build trust, encourage collaboration, and ensure alignment with our mission and values.
  • Maintain regular communication with local groups to stay updated on their meetings, events, and initiatives.
  • Record key dates in internal calendars and coordinate with the communications team for external promotion.
  • Handle day to day administrative tasks such as creating Pardot distribution lists for group invites, drafting, scheduling and sending invites
  • Assist in the creation of key collateral and group promotional materials from templates if required for promoting groups
  • Collect feedback from group leaders on meetings and events to support reporting and impact measurement.

Administration

  • Deal promptly and professionally with any enquiries relating to volunteering and groups to ensure positive outcomes for the volunteers and the charity.
  • Monitor inboxes relating to the Volunteer team and distribution of impact surveys.

General

  • Any other duties as required by the Volunteer & Peer Support Service Manager, Volunteer & Peer Support Service Coordinator or the Innovation and Services Director.

Criteria  Essential Desirable 
Qualifications – GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths.– Professional qualification/training in administrative support. 

– A-levels
Experience – At least 1 year’s experience in an office environment.
 
– Strong self-starter and multitasker with the ability to manage own time with a variety of competing tasks and responsibilities.
 
– Understanding of Microsoft office platform including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

– Managing multiple email inboxes and calendars.
 
– Working across a variety of projects and teams simultaneously.
Use of social media platforms
– Previous experience of working/volunteering for a charity. 
 
– Have dealt successfully with service users/ volunteers and built strong relationships.  
 
– Previous experience using Salesforce or equivalent CRM system.

– Discussion of sensitive topic areas with sympathy and professionalism.

– Promoting events or services.
Knowledge – Understanding of the administrative and communications needs and their application in a busy working environment.
 
– Desire to learn more about RA and JIA and experiences of those living with them.
– Understanding of RA and/or JIA and treatments.  
 
– Understanding of the charitable and health environments. 
 
– Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion and its application in the workplace.
Skills and abilities – Excellent written skills across a variety of written mediums and required tones. 
 
– Confident phone communicator.
 
– Excellent computer skills, previous use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and databases.

– Experience using video conferencing platforms (e.g., Zoom and MS Teams).
 
– Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. 
 
– Demonstrable ability to prioritise workload, maintain quality and deliver effectively to tight deadlines. 
– Experience using Zoom as a meeting/ presenting tool
 
– Social media savvy.
 
– Understanding of medical terminology and/or ability to learn terminology and key facts as relevant to the charity’s work and job role.
 
– Problem solving.
