NRAS launches new strategy to transform its support for people living with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis.

The National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS), the UK’s leading independent charity supporting people with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA), has today unveiled a new organisational strategy aimed at tackling urgent challenges in care, diagnosis, and support for those living with these lifelong autoimmune conditions.

The strategy, shaped by wide consultation and lived experience, sets out a clear roadmap to improve visibility, accessibility, and impact of NRAS services. It responds directly to the growing need for earlier diagnosis, better access to specialist care, and more support for self-management – especially for those who are resistant to multiple treatment options.

Peter Foxton, CEO of NRAS, said:

“Our new strategy is both ambitious and necessary. We will advocate for faster diagnoses, fairer access to treatment, and stronger support systems – especially for those facing the greatest barriers to care”.

NRAS will also align its efforts with the NHS 10-Year Plan, continue to support patient involvement in ground breaking research, and invest in services to support thousands more people across the UK. The charity will enhance its impact measurement and fundraising efforts to ensure long-term sustainability and growth.

As we enter our 25th year this strategy marks a pivotal moment in NRAS’s journey – we are determined to help create a future where everyone with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis can thrive.
