I was diagnosed in 2009 with Sero positive Rheumatoid Arthritis. Currently we are the only NRAS Group in Wales; we have good attendance numbers but would love to be able to reach more people across Wales.Since Covid we have run our groups Bi Monthly over Zoom which for some has been a life- line, especially those living in remote areas of Wales or those who are newly diagnosed, allowing them to connect with others, share their experiences and gain valuable advice and support. As a group we like to socialise and combine fund raising events throughout the year. This gives people who like the face to face meetings an opportunity to still connect with the Group whilst raising funds.SueMy name is Sue, and I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) in 2019. At the time, I was fortunate to have a strong support network at work and my colleague, Cynthia, was especially supportive, offering advice on managing the pain and discomfort associated with RA. She also introduced me to the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS).I started attending NRAS meetings organized by Cynthia, and as I became more involved, she encouraged me to help with events and fundraising efforts. Over time, I took on the role of treasurer for the Swansea NRAS local group, which has given me the opportunity to connect with others living with RA and support the important work of NRAS.My journey has had its challenges, but I remain committed to raising awareness, offering support, and helping others who are navigating similar experiences. We’re always welcoming new NRAS members who want to get involved, help out, or support our local events. The more, the merrier!
