RA Awareness Week 2026: Trust Your Symptoms and Take the First Step 14 September 2026 14-18 September 2026 The National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) is encouraging people to trust their instincts about their health and seek support if something does not feel right during RA Awareness Week (RAAW) 2026. medac Pharma provided arm’s length funding for this project. medac Pharma has not had influence in the project, or the development of any associated materials. This year’s campaign focuses on the experiences many people face when they first develop symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Well-meaning comments such as “You were fine yesterday” or “You just need more rest” can sometimes lead people to dismiss symptoms that may need medical attention. NRAS wants to remind people that they know their own bodies best. If symptoms persist or feel unusual, it is important to take them seriously and look for reliable information. A key part of this year’s campaign is the “is it RA?” Symptom Checker, a free online tool developed by NRAS. The checker asks five simple questions and gives people the confidence to have a conversation with a healthcare professional. Launched in 2025, the tool has become a valuable first step for individuals who may be experiencing signs of rheumatoid arthritis. Early diagnosis and treatment can significantly improve long-term outcomes, making prompt action especially important. Throughout RA Awareness Week, NRAS will be sharing information and resources across its website, social media channels and email communications. A downloadable and hard copy awareness poster will also be available for workplaces, community groups, healthcare settings and local organisations to help spread awareness. “RA Awareness Week is an opportunity to remind people that they know their bodies best. While advice from others may come from a good place, persistent symptoms should never be ignored. The ‘is it RA?’ Symptom Checker offers a simple and accessible way for people to take that first step towards understanding their symptoms and seeking appropriate support.” Peter Foxton, NRAS CEO To try the symptom checker or learn more about RA Awareness Week, visit isitRA.co.uk Try the checker now!
